We are on the right track with our BIM and Accurity strategy. On Thursday we presented our Business Information Modeling (BIM) methodology and Accurity tools at a workshop called “Methodologies And Tools to Improve Big Data Projects”. We had a really good discussion on how to apply our approach to more exploratory “data science” type projects and a broader variety of data. Main conclusion: the fact that the data and analysis processes are less structured doesn’t make governance less important. This became apparent not only in our workshop but also in the quite interesting Industry & Government track of the conference with presentations by organizations like LinkedIn, Groupon and eBay.
Big data means big data quality issues. On Sunday we attended another very interesting workshop on “Data Quality Issues in Big Data”. Presentations ranged from telco (Huawei) to healthcare and governmental research (MITRE). Again, the data quality topic is not becoming less important, actually the “veracity” aspect of big data adds another dimension to it. We came back with some fresh ideas for Accurity Quality and our methodology for data quality management.
